Assignments

The first two assignments are mandatory and you should be ready with them by 7/3 2005. The first two assignments can be done in groups of at most two students. Each group writes a detailed report. You must also be prepared to orally explain and present your results to, and answer questions from, your teacher.

  1. Programming with MPI
    (assignment1.ps or assignment1.pdf)

  2. Programming with OpenMP
    (assignment2.ps or assignment2.pdf)

  3. Application of your choice
    Consult your teacher and choose an application from the literature, from your own interests, or from your own research project and parallelize it either with MPI or OpenMP. It has a pedagogical merit that you define your own task, you are forced to recall the course content and value what you can do. Deadline 21/3, 2005.

The third assignment is individual and voluntary but if you choose to do it you are sure to pass the course (provided that you will be approved on all three assignments). See examination requirements. The results of the third assignment are reported orally to your teacher, in addition to a written report.
