About the course

The main goal with the course is that the student should be able to formulate and design interactive systems with a starting point in the user's needs. News

2012.03.07 The slides from the lecture on Haptics will be uploaded tomorrow, since I cannot do this from home. The deadline for reflections and columnists will be counted from tomorrow (3 resp. 5 days).
2012.03.07 There are large problema with studentportalen today, so I have not been able to send the information about the seminar tomorrow. I have now placed the information temporarily here. I am sorry for the late information.
2012.01.07 I noticed that I had not put up an assignment specification page, but now it is up and available.
2012.01.07 Since there have been some (topic) changes in the schedule I added the time of the lectures in the lecture descriptions below. However, in case there is a discrepancy the schedule as given in TimeEdit is the one that supersedes the one on this page.
2012.01.07 I discovered that I accidentally had deleted the afternoon lecture in the list of Lecture overview and Columnists. This has now been repaired. There will be NO columnist for this lecture, but everyone should make a reflection, as usual.
The descriptions of the handin of the reflections and columns have been updated, and ONLY refer to Studentportalen from now on.
2012.01.30 The lecture schedule with names of all Columnists has now been updated. The guest lectures (Haptics and Industrial design) may still be changed in time.
The schedule can be found through the link above.
There will be a joint guest lecture and seminars on Monday, February 6, and Wednesday, February 8. This has not been fixed in the schedule as of yet.
2012.01.09 The course page has been initialized. Much information is still missing, but this will be added during the week. Keep a bookmark to this page

Administrative topics

Groups

You should form assignment groups containing three (3) people. This should be finished before Thursday Jan 23.
When reported, the groups will be specified on Studentportalen.

Project

One part of the examination is a project that runs over the time of the whole course. The result from the project work will be presented during the examination day. More information about the main project will be presented on Wednesday, January 25.

Assignments

Group Assignment - Course blog

You will be given an assignment each week, starting from week 4. Each week you should report your assignment in form of a blog. You should create and design your own blog groupwise. These assignments will be specified week by week on a separate page of this home page.

Assignments - Reflections

After each lecture, you have to send in (within three work days) an individual (!) short reflection (with or without pictures) by posting on Studentportalen (!). The reflection should not be longer than 200 words, but may include illustrations (pictures or drawings). Do not attach pdfs or word files!

Each of you will also be assigned one single lecture on which you are required to write a longer column (between a half and one A4 page). This column should provide a deeper reflection of the content, and illustrations are encouraged, and should be sent in the same manner as the reflections. When you are responsible for a Column you do not have to write a reflection for that lecture.

The reflections and columns are part of the examination and must be written individually.

At the end of the course, the reflections will be compiled into a "course documentation", with named authors.

Literature

We will not use a specific textbook.
We will provide you with lecture notes, articles, links etc. during the course.

There are some (optional) books available, e.g.:

  • Dan Saffer: designing for interaction
  • Dan Olsen: Building Interactive Systems
  • Shneidermann, Plaisant: Designing the user interface

Literature for each lecture will be posted below. Lecture Notes will be added after each lecture.
