Data Mining I - 1DL360
Organization and examination
This course is organised as a series of lectures, tutorials and with an accompanying series of mandatory assignments (labs) to be solved with the help of a computer. The practical assignments are made by the students on their own with support from course assistants.
Most of the content of the course will be covered in the lectures and in the assignments, but it is nevertheless necessary to use your own time to read the course literature and to work with the course material and the assigments.
The requirements for passing the course is to pass the mandatory assignments and the written exam. For the assignment part of the course you will get a final pass or fail grade for the complete set of assignments taken together (individual assignments that are incomplete or failed are normally returned to the student for completion). The grade of the written exam will become the resulting grade for the course, i.e. some of Failed (U), 3, 4 or 5. Exchange and masters students can also get ECTS grades.

Guidelines for the final exam on Oct 13 2011:
- Read through the complete exam and note any unclear directives before you start solving the questions.
- Write readably and clearly! Answers that cannot be read can obviously not result in any points and unclear formulations can be misunderstood.
- Assumptions outside of what is stated in the question must be explained. Any assumptions made should not alter the given question.
- Write your answer on only one side of the paper and use a new paper for each new question to simplify the grading and to avoid misunderstandings. Please write your anon. exam code (or name) on each page you hand in. When you are done, staple your pages together in an order that corresponds to the order of the questions.
- This examination contains 40 points in total and their distribution between sub-questions is clearly identifiable. You will get credit only for correct answers. To pass, you must score at least 22. The examiner reserves the right to lower these numbers.
- Allowed material:
- Dictionaries to/from English
- Calculator
- Notes or "cheat sheets" are not allowed
