1DL931: STS Independent Project Course

Course objectives

  • Independently develop and analyze technical systems
  • Identify need of further knowledge in a specific technical field, and independently search for and acquire new knowledge
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently and in groups to identify, formulate and solve problems in a professional manner, and to perform tasks in a timely manner
  • Report and present the work orally and in writing in English

Project instructions

  • The main subject within this course is the development of an e-commerce project, i.e. you should in a group of 3 people develop a web-based system that provide an e-commerce application.
  • More detalied instructions and material for the e-commerce project (1DL350) can be found here.
  • Please hand in your filled form to the TA during your weekly meeting.

Presentation Guidelines:
(20-25mins presentation + 5mins Q&A)
1. Goals of application: purpose and design objectives
2. Architecture diagram: system overview, UML diagram
3. Major components and functionalities
4. Implementation: choice of tools, major challenges
5. User interfaces: HCI issues
6. Evaluation: experiments and results
7. Discussion: lessons learned and future work

Literature

There is no required book you have to buy but the following is an introduction to web-based systems. Darrel Ince: Developing Distributed and E-commerce Applications, 2nd ed, Addison-Wesley, 2003 (available e.g. at Akademibokhandeln).
