Projects 14-22 are provided by the Norwegian company Schlumberger Information Solutions, Oslo, Norway, which is the largest in the world in providing tools and services for oil and gas exploration.

The tasks in the projects target various aspects of analysis and handling of seismic images, and are linked to a powerful desktop application for the oil and gas industry, developed at Schlumberger, named Petrel.
Petrel is used in the exploration process, and helps the users interpret, model and simulate oil and gas scenarios, and much more. As it is a modeling tool, interactivity, usability, visualization, deep science and precision are of big importance.
Some of the suggested projects are related to various possible extensions and improvements of certain computational kernels in Petrel, targeting analysis and interpretation of seismic images, statistical analysis of models and scenarios, also analysis and administration of code changes and verification, etc.
