The course evaluation is now open! Please go to http://evaluering.ibg.uu.se/it and fill it in - you will help improve the course for future students.

2007-10-12

  • Solution sketches of earlier assignments (see below) are now available on the web pages of respective years.

2007-10-10

  • The seminar on Monday (Oct 15) will start at 9:15 and stop at 12. Please let me know if you can not do your presentation 9-10.

2007-10-09

  • Please note that all handins should be signed by all who hand in; each should send a digitally signed copy including the assurance or a paper copy with physical signatures (also including the assurance). If you haven't already done this, please do it.
  • Please also let me know how you worked on your PMs. If you worked on different parts, send me an email and let me know, or write a description in your PM if you haven't handed it in yet.
  • Older exams are not available since there haven't been any, but you can check the hand-in assignments of earlier years: 2004, 2005, and 2006. But please note that the exam will be easier!
  • I'm trying to make the seminar session on Oct 15 longer, from 9 to 12, to fit more presentations. It is currently over-booked.

2007-10-05

  • Clarification of question 4 on the hand-in assignment available. Let me know if you need more.

2007-10-03

Due to popular demand Smiling smiley I've arranged an extra seminar session: Wednesday Oct 10, 10-12. Let me know when you wish to present, and if you can not present a particular day/time.

2007-10-02

The lecture tomorrow (Wednesday) will be seminar presentations, and will most likely be finished by 11.

2007-10-01

  • If you want to do lab 2 after the scheduled class you must talk to Magnus first. The computer you need to break into will not be available otherwise.
  • A preliminary programme for the oral presentations (seminars) is now available.

2007-09-26

  • Information about the examination updated.
  • Brief answers to the questions on pre-exam 1 (Sep 10) are finally on the web - sorry, this slipped my mind for too long!
  • Group list slightly updated.

2007-09-25

Only three groups signed up for PM+presentation (the first seminar session will be Wednesday October 3). There is room for more groups! And there will be more sessions.

Nearest future:

  • Wednesday (tomorrow): lecture continuing Access Control, and Reference Monitors.
  • Thursday: pre-exam introducing Security Models. Please read sections 8.1-8.2, 9.1, 9.4 (and the rest of chapters 8-9 if you are ambitious!).
  • Friday: group lab in room 1312. Instructions will be available in advance.

2007-09-18

  • Due to technical problems, the lab (planned for Friday) will be postponed until next week.
  • Since there will be no lab on Friday, I will instead start with chapter 4 on the Friday lecture.
  • Because of the short time for preparation, the "pre-exam" next week will not cover chapter 4.
  • Due to lack of time (still only 24 hours/day!) the examination of the course will change focus from continuous group examination, and the final exam will cover more material. I am very sorry about this.
  • More information about the reflection system is now available.
  • Results for lab 1 and pre-exam 1 are now available.

2007-09-17

  • The group list has been updated (and the involved people notified by email).
  • The lecture on Wednesday will cover chapter 15.
  • The course reflection system is now enabled; your first opportunity to use it will be the lecture on Wednesday. Reflections will be possible from Wednesday 10.15 until Friday 01.00 (am).
  • There will be a "pre-exam" covering chapters 4 and 5 on Wednesday next week.
  • Friday's lecture is replaced by a lab session - details and instructions will appear soon.

2007-09-13

  • Lecture notes for Network security available under "Overview".
  • If you can, please bring an extra copy of your Thawte form and photo ID - there will be four notaries present.

2007-09-12

The group list is now available to registered students. Send a message to me if you can't log in and see it!

2007-09-10

There will be a notarization event for Thawte certificates on Friday (Sep 14) at the end of the lecture, i.e. around 12 o'clock. See instructions here!

2007-09-06

2007-09-05

  • Please read chapter 11 for the Monday lecture!
  • I created a new GPG/PGP key so you can try sending me encrypted email. (For S/MIME, send me an email and I'll reply with a signed email containing my certificate.)
