Tasks

Part A: The robot starts at any point inside the track. It should find the track and follow it for at least one round (the robot should find an accident site and explore it). If you want to do more: follow the track as fast as possible. This requires a better program than the one from the tutorial.

Part B: The robot runs along the track (done by Part A). Find a green spot (an injured person) and make the robot play a sound. If you want to do more: Count the number of the green spots on the track. This requires using variables.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the robot has a different kernel than Mindstorms NXT (does not display "Lego" and "Mindstorms" after startup), find the reset button in the Lego Technic hole under the USB port. Pres the button for at least 5 seconds. Upload the Mindstorms NXT kernel in the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education NXT program, Menu -> Tools -> Update NXT Firmware, by pressing the Download button. The brick has to be connected via USB cable and recognized by the computer.
  • If the robot cannot run the motors, charge the battery completely. This might take several hours.
