PhD programs - Courses in automatic control and signal processing

The courses listed below are divided into four groups:

Courses marked A are primarily for PhD students in Automatic control.
Courses marked S are primarily for PhD students in Signal processing.

Courses marked SC are given at the Department of Systems and Control.
Courses marked KTH are given at the Royal Institute of Techology, Stockholm.

Courses marked ht are given in a fall semester.
Courses marked vt are given in a spring semester.

In order to offer a broad spectrum of couses, we cooperate primarily with two deparments
at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. The lists below include
some of the courses given at KTH. For more details about such courses at KTH see also here.

Basic courses

These courses are taken by most if not all students. They cover fundamental aspects, often in depth, of several topics in signal, systems and control.

Specialized and advanced courses

The following courses are somewhat specialized, or advanced. The list is partly based on examples.
Some courses are given on a rather regular schedule. Other courses appear at special occasions.
They can for example be given by a guest researcher with specific competence and experience.
Hence the list can be expected also to be modified from time to time.

A course labelled II denotes a second course in a particular field.

Undergraduate courses

The following advanced undergraduate courses are given each year by the Department of Systems and Control.
Students who have not already included them in their MSc exam, may take them as PhD courses.

Adaptive systems S period 4 (March-May)
Spectral analysis S period 4 (March-May)
System identification   period 3 (Jan-March)

Courses in other subject areas

It can be relevant for the PhD students to take courses in other subject areas. There are many such courses offered at our faculty. Check with the supervisor about what is apprioraite. What is listed below is only a few examples.
