How the IT directory works

Data from the University's directory database is fetched every night, and is extended with local information such as picture, presentation, and functions at the department. (Changes in the university database therefore don't show up immediately, but within a day.)

Edit directory information

The local information can be edited by following the link "Edit directory information" on your directory page. You can edit your

  • Presentation: if you don't need a full Wiki page, you can give a brief presentation of yourself in this field (in English and/or Swedish). This presentation is shown if you haven't created your Wiki page, and also in some staff listings (e.g. /internt/vem_gor_vad_namn). You can use Wiki language (e.g. plain text) or HTML in the presentation.
  • Picture: you can upload a picture of yourself, which is shown both on your directory page and in the portrait gallery. This is very useful e.g. for new employees who see you in the corridor or at Rullan but don't know who you are.
  • Personal web page: you can enter a URL of a personal web page if you have one, which might describe your more "unofficial" sides.

To change the basic information in the university database (e.g. name, employment, room etc): please contact the directory staff (Ingegerd Wass, Carina Lindgren, or Ulrika Andersson).

Wiki extension

The directory pages describing people (e.g. /katalog/victor) can now be edited as Wiki pages.

When the page is edited, a "macro" is automatically put at the top, which generates your picture, name, address and other contact information. Below this you can add information about yourself, your research, teaching, and other interesting things. Try to give the page an "official" style, since the web is one of our primary information channels to the world.

Please remember to keep both the English and Swedish version of the page up-to-date. (The Wiki system, in View mode, provides some help by notifying you if one language version is older than the other.)

You can also create sub-pages of your directory page (e.g. /katalog/victor/cv) and make links there from your main page.

For more information about the [[Person]] macro can be used, e.g. to create listings of groups, read this.

Publication lists

If you would like to show your publications on your directory page, you can use the [[DIVA]] macro, which displays data from the university publication database. Read more and see examples here.
