Social events

The social program of PLI'03 will consist of the following activities:

  • On Sunday August 24th, 19:00 there will be a welcoming reception in the faculty rooms of the main building of Uppsala University ("Universitetshuset" - the place where the PLI conference is held). Professor Sten Lunell, the Deputy Vice Rector and a Professor of Quantum Chemistry at Uppsala University, will host the reception.

Every PLI participant is cordially invited to join this event, get a glimpse of the faculty rooms of Uppsala University, which otherwise will be closed during the days of the conference, learn a bit more about Uppsala University's history, taste local delicacies, catch up with old friends and/or perhaps make new ones.

Note: On-site registration to the conference will be open at 18:30.

  • On Wednesday August 27th, 19:30 the banquet of PLI'03 will take place. The banquet will take place in the "Old House" building of Norrlands Nation, which is a society of Uppsala University students mainly from the northern parts of Sweden. The society was founded in its present form in 1827 though its roots dates back to the 1640's. It is the largest student nation in Uppsala (and in Sweden).

  • On two separate occasions, namely on Tuesday & Thursday evenings between 18:30 and 19:30 there will be guided tours of the "historic center" of Uppsala, explaining pieces of history of Uppsala's cathedral (Uppsala domkyrka), Museum Gustavianum, and of the surrounding houses. Participation is free of charge.
