SweConsNet: Objectives & History

Founded in May 2002, and a special interest group of the Swedish Artificial Intelligence Society (SAIS) since September 2008, the objectives of SweConsNet are:

  • Promotion of constraint programming (CP) in Sweden
  • Coordination and integration of constraint programming research and technology transfer in Sweden
  • Education on constraint programming in Sweden (see Courses on CP)
  • Information dissemination portal for Sweden: listing of problems solved with constraint programming, constraint programming support tools developed, constraint programming research projects, constraint programming courses and events, open jobs with a constraint programming profile, etc. (witness this website)
  • Connection to Swedish, European, and worldwide networks (for instance, SweConsNet is a special interest group of SAIS, the Swedish Artificial Intelligence Society)

Toward these objectives, a paper entitled Constraint Programming in Sweden was published by Pierre Flener (UU), Mats Carlsson (SICS), and Christian Schulte (KTH) in the journal IEEE Intelligent Systems, 24(2):87-89, March/April 2009. (PDF)
