Venue
The seminar was held at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physics (ITAP) in the micro-resort of Turunç, near the Mediterranean mega-resort of Marmaris in the south-western corner of the Republic of Turkey. ITAP has full conference facilities, including wifi, and is about 200 meters above sea level and the centre of the village.
Registration Fee
Thanks to generous sponsorship, the registration fee was only 288 euros (including accommodation at ITAP) and 240 euros (excluding accommodation), including all meals at ITAP from Sunday noon 24 June to Saturday noon 30 June 2012.
Accommodation
The participants are encouraged to have all their meals at ITAP, especially as the registration fee includes all meals. En-suite bedrooms (photo 1, photo 2) for single, double, and triple occupation are available at ITAP on a first-come first-served basis and are included in the higher registration fee.
Participants who wish to sleep outside ITAP are encouraged to stay at the Loryma Resort Hotel (****), which is 300 level meters away from ITAP. Bookings must be made by yourself. Hints: Use the internet, and note that some charter companies have direct flights to Dalaman airport from many cities in Europe and include the Loryma as accommodation option.
Visa
It is the participants' responsibility to make sure they have any required visa (check the country-specific visa requirements) and travel documents to enter the Republic of Turkey. Purchase of a visa at the Turkish border gate (prior to entering the immigration queue) is a trivial procedure for those participants whose citizenship allows it. Participants requiring a visa before entry may request an invitation letter from the organisers to help with visa acquisition. If you face further difficulties, then do not hesitate to contact us.
Travel to Turkey
If possible, then book a flight to the nearby Dalaman Airport (110 km from Turunç), if not to Bodrum-Milas Airport (160 km from Turunç) or Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (285 km from Turunç) or even Antalya Airport (385 km from Turunç) and proceed by coach, taxi, or rental car from there; these airports are mostly serviced by charter flights (from all over Europe), hence book early if you only want a seat but no hotel; note that some charter companies include Hotel Loryma as accommodation option. Otherwise, aim at Ankara Esenboga Airport, Istanbul Atatürk Airport, or Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport and continue on a domestic flight. Another option is to take the daily morning ferry from the nearby Greek island of Rhodos to Marmaris (20 km from Turunç).
Travel inside Turkey
Details on how to reach ITAP from the various border gates will be sent in due time to the participants. We will organise a shuttle service from/to the most popular entry gates.
