Welcome to the NEW JASS!-- a Java based Activated Sludge process Simulator

From this page you can reach our activated sludge process simulator constructed for network usage. The simulator is implemented with 10 zones using the IWA Activated Sludge Model No.1 (ASM1) and a 10 layers settler model. It is possible to simulate pre- and post denitrification systems as well as some step feed strategies. Two other simulators are also avaiable: A simulator for simple bioreactors and a simulator for some basic automatic control strategies. In order to run the simulators you need to have Java Plugin 1.3.1 or a more recent version installed in your web browser. Simulators for Java Plugin 1.3.1 (only) can be found here here.

LATEST NEWS (2005-04-13). The JASS simulator has now been extended to also simulate Biological Phosphorus (BioP) removal. The BioP process is simulated using ASM2d. We want to thank Ulf Jeppsson and Krist Gernaey for providing the differential equations used in the BioP simulator. The implementation has been done by a former student, Gustav Grusell. Finally, the economic support provided by Svenska Kommuner och Landsting is gratefully acknowledged.
