Publishing a licentiate thesis in the IT Lic series

To make a licentiate thesis, the formal rules must of course be followed. What is described here is how to publish a thesis in the IT Lic series at the Department of Information Technology:

  1. Write a licentiate thesis.
Use A4 format for both cover and contents, since this facilitates the printing procedure immensely.
  2. Save the thesis in PDF format. If you use LaTeX you can produce a nice PDF file using dvipdf or perhaps pdflatex (which produces a PDF directly instead of a dvi file).
  3. Send an email to Björn Victor asking to publish the thesis in the IT Lic series. Include information about
    1. the author,
    2. the title,
    3. if (parts of) the thesis is published elsewhere (e.g., in another series),
    4. the abstract (in TeX or text format - avoid personal macros in TeX format),
    5. the (approximate) date of the thesis presentation
Also send the Postscript/PDF file containing the thesis, either as an attachment to your email, or preferrably (especially if the file is large) as a URL where the file can be fetched.

The cover of the thesis should be yellow (the name of the colour is "rapsgul", serial nr 388 647) and is created based on the series template. The template is available in Word and LaTeX formats. Please always contact Björn Victor for an up-to-date version - do not use an old version.

  • The author may modify the template by e.g. adding a logo of his/her "sponsor" (SICS, UPMARC etc). However, it is important that the basic design (colour, seal etc) is intact.
  • If the cover is modified, the author prepares a printing original which must be approved by Björn Victor.
  • If the thesis is bound at a print shop, and gets a spine of sufficient width,
the author and title should be printed on the spine, clearly separated (e.g. by a \quad or \qquad), with the author's name IN CAPITALS and the Title Capitalised, similar to the front page.

The printing should be handled according to the department rules.

When the thesis has been printed:

  • the author sends information about the the number of pages in the printed content, and the number of copies printed, to Björn Victor
  • the thesis is published on the IT Lic-series webpage (and shortly in DiVA, the Digital Scientific Archive).

You are very welcome with questions and suggestions to Björn Victor!
