178 1996 David Lindström david@tdb.uu.se Numerical Computation of Viscous Detonation Waves in Two Space Dimensions A finite difference method is used for the solution of the reactive Navier-Stokes equations in a two-dimensional channel. It is shown how the accuracy of the numerical solution will depend on the resolution in space and the order of accuracy of the numerical method. The effect of the viscous term on the numerical solution is studied. For a low resolution, the viscous term of the Navier-Stokes equations can be neglected. However, if the viscous term is neglected when the resolution is high, then unphysical behavior will be seen in the numerical solution.
