194 1997 Jarmo Rantakokko jarmo@tdb.uu.se A framework for partitioning domains with inhomogeneous workload Abstract A framework for partitioning arrays with varying workload has been worked out. Structured and unstructured methods have been combined in a new approach to partition data, based on blocks and block operations. The framework has been implemented in a Fortran 90 software package with an object-oriented design. The use of the package has been demonstrated for a real life problem, the Baltic sea. The experiments show that the new approach gives very good results while standard partitioning methods can not fulfill all the listed requirements.
