• Topics of interest range over the span UPMARCs activities. Examples of possible topics that currently seek Ph.D. students include
  • Testing and Debugging of Concurrent Software: we will further develop techniques and methodology for testing concurrent software and identifying errors, in particular for Erlang programs, based on our previously developed tools Proper and ConcuError.
  • Formal Verification of Concurrent C programs: we will further develop techniques for formally verifying concurrent programs written in C or C++, utilizing techniques from theorem proving and model checking.
  • Mixed-criticality embedded systems on multicores: We will further develop techniques and tools for modelling, analysis and implementation of embedded and real-time systems, in particular techniques for developing mixed-criticality systems on multicores, integrating applications with different levels of criticality.
  • Parallel algorithms for biological applications: ongoing lines of research include imaging algorithms relying on massively data-parallel computers, where we plan to further develop algorithms and methodology for handling very large sets of streaming data in real-time in an adaptive fashion. About positions, applications and the department:

A PhD position requires a Master of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent in a field which is relevant for the topic of the PhD thesis. The position is for a maximum of five years and includes departmental duties at a level of at most 20% (typically teaching). The salary amounts currently to about 24.900 SEK per month in the first year.

Applications should include a description of research interests and past experience, a CV, copies of exams, degrees and grades, a copy of Master thesis (or a draft thereof), relevant publications, and other relevant documents. Candidates are encouraged to provide letter(s) of recommendation and contact information to reference persons, and further to indicate their preferred research project(s), as well as earliest feasible starting date of employment.
