______________________________________________________________________ Date: Tuesday 22 November 2016 Time: 13:15 to max 15:00 Venue: Room 1311, House 1, ITC, Polacksbacken, Uppsala University ______________________________________________________________________ Guest lecture in the course "Modelling for Combinatorial Optimisation": Using Optimisation for Electronic Negotiations Fredrik Ygge Trade Extensions, Uppsala (http://www.tradeextensions.com) Abstract: Trade Extensions was founded in the year 2000 by three researchers of Uppsala University. The core idea was to support bidding / auctions / negotiations where price is not the only parameter. Indeed, a negotiation in business in general involves so many more things, like quality (in terms of material, services, delivery time, etc), capacities, volume discounts, operational constraints (like how many suppliers one can change this year), etc. We will see what challenges one faces when applying optimisation to real-life and some hints on how to overcome these. We will also gain insights on state-of-the-art electronic negotiations. Biographical sketch: Fredrik Ygge is Chief Scientist at Trade Extensions and holds a PhD in computer science from Lund University. He also had a part-time position at Uppsala University at the time of the founding of the company. He has done a little of everything you need to do when starting a company, from sales and project management to negotiation design and software development. He has been technical project leader for projects like the world's first combinatorial auction over the Internet in 2001, the first electronic auction in the Swedish public sector, and the production of the IKEA catalogue -- the world's most printed item. ______________________________________________________________________ Directions: http://www.polacksbacken.uu.se/Find_us/
