TPiPE - Theory and Practice in Programming Education
We study lab-based teaching and learning of computer programming at upper
secondary schools and in higher education with a specific focus on the interplay
between learning of theory and learning of practice. The aim for the project is to gain insights about what is required in order that students' learning of practice and learning of theory during lab sessions can support each other mutually. Our research approach is phenomenography and variation theory, where we use the intended object of learning, the enacted object of learning, and the lived object of learning as our analytical tools. The project has collected data from students, from teachers, and the lab instructions used in the lab.
